Mystic Moluccan. Meet the Piring Natzar.

In het context of 70 years of Moluccxans in the Netherlands, the focus exhibition 'Mystic Moluccans. Meet the Piring Natzar' and will last from September 24, 2021 to January 9, 2022. The Piring Natzar is a home altar of Protestant Moluccans, where they talk (pray) with God every day. The Piring is a plate and the Natzar the offerings in the form of coins wrapped in white paper. In one of the packages are three coins, which symbolize God the Father, Christ the Son and the Holy Spirit. All other packs contain only one coin. One for each family member. Next to the Piring Natzar are a Bible and a hymnal on either side. The whole is covered with a beautiful lace cloth. The money for the Sunday service in the Church is placed next to the plate. At the end of the year, the offerings are washed and brought clean to the church. New coins are packed again for the new year.

On  Saturday September 25, from 10.00-13.00 hours the Faith and Indentity conference will be held in Museum Catharijneconvent in Utrecht. At the conference Dutch and Moluccan Theologians and pastors share their views on this theme. Speakers are: Sylvia Pessireron, prof. dr. Heleen Zorgdrager, Rev. Otto Ruff, prof. dr. Martien Brinkman, Rev, drs. Marthen Pattipeilohy, Rev. Jaroah Haumahu. The chairman of the day is drs. Eduard Groen.

The conference is an initiative of the Institute for Intercontextual Theology in collaboration with the PThU, GJPIN church Apeldoorn, Museum Catharijneconvent and University of Applied Sciences Windesheim in Zwolle.

The exhibition Lain sayang Lain, four generations of Moluccans in the Netherlands can be seen from 22 July to 5 September 2021. In the exhibition, documentary photographer Suzanne Liem and writer Sylvia Pessireron focus on the resilience of Moluccans. The photo exhibition can be seen in Barak 1B of the former Kamp Vught in Vught.

April 23, 2022 Presentation about Moluccans in the Netherlands

On April 23at 14.14 hrs  Dr. Simon Ririhena wil give a presentation about the history of the Moluccans in exile in The Netherlands. The presentation will be given in De Drie Ranken in Apeldoorn.

 

October 31, 2022 Zoom-Conference The role of ancestors in our Theologies.

The conference is an initiatief from the Institute for Intercontextual Theology and Foundation Academy Amsterdam. Key-note speakers are: prof. dr. Nico Koopman from Stellenbosch University (S-Africa), drs. Laura Dijkhuizen-Gast (Foundation Academy Amsterdam)  and dr. Simon Ririhena, from the Institute for Intercontextual Theology.
